About

The Nolans Rare Earths Project (“Nolans”, “Nolans Project”) situated 135 kilometres north of Alice Springs, is a fully permitted, construction-ready, single site ore-to-oxide project with an anticipated mine life of 38 years. As a fully integrated operation, Nolans will encompass a mine, processing and separation plants and related infrastructure. The Project is strategically located in the Northern Territory and is recognised as a globally significant NdPr project that, once developed, will become a major supplier of these critical minerals to the high-performance NdFeB permanent magnet market.

On 21 May 2026, Arafura achieved Final Investment Decision (FID) for the Nolans Rare Earths Project. This marks a significant milestone in the transition of the project into execution. The Project was also declared a Significant Project.

The Nolans Project has the potential major driver of economic growth in the Northern Territory. During construction, the Project is expected to create over 600 jobs, and around 350 ongoing roles once operations begin.

Beyond the site itself, the Nolans Project is expected to support ongoing business activity across a range of local industries, helping create lasting opportunities for small and medium-sized local businesses. The Project’s Territory Benefits Plan includes clear commitments to maximise local and Indigenous participation.

Join Arafura, Hatch (EPCM Contractor) and ICN NT to understand the opportunities for NT businesses and communities.
